A San Diego Sheriff’s Department sting operation at the Grossmont Trolley Station has yielded 11 arrests. A Department spokesperson said that deputies along with members of Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) security worked jointly to conduct the operation.
The purpose of the sting was to apprehend persons who had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants. San Diego 6 reported that persons who were suspected to be participants in criminal gang activity or who were suspected of participating in other illegal acts were also targeted.
A Sheriff’s spokesperson said that 10 adults and one juvenile were arrested, with several of those apprehended having more than one outstanding warrant. In addition, approximately 230 citations were given out for MTS code violations including but not limited to failure to pay the required fare.
