People who are arrested in Carlsbad will likely be transported to San Diego in order to be booked and processed. Men will be taken to the Vista Jail and women will be taken to Las Colinas jail in Santee.
The booking process can take anywhere between 4 and 6 hours and the jail will not accept a bond until an arrestee is fully booked into the system. During this time they will have their fingerprints and mug shots taken, they will undergo a national background check and warrant screen and the crime they have been charged with will be cross referenced with the county bail schedule. The bail schedule is set each year by a panel of superior court judges and it lists different bail amounts for different crimes.
The defendant should know that just because they have been bailed out that is not to say the matter is resolved. They will still need to appear in court as scheduled in order for a judge to decide their case.
