A detective for the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) may have been involved in an off-duty DUI-related accident. The detective, who has been employed with the department for more than 11 years, is reported to have crashed an undercover police car in an area adjacent to Princess View Drive.
First responders determined his injuries required hospital care. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated and to undergo further observation. The San Diego City Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing evidence collected from the scene and will be making a determination as to whether to charge the detective with misdemeanor DUI. The department declined further comment on the matter due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
