Sources within the San Diego Police Department have confirmed a suspect has been taken into custody after Wednesday’s high-speed chase that took place in the streets of Barrio Logan.
Officers said the first tried to stop the vehicle after they witnessed the driver make an illegal turn. The driver, however, failed to stop and laid their foot on the gas. A report by NBC San Diego indicates the pursuit took place in the northbound lanes of 32nd street.
When the vehicle stopped, the driver and the passenger made a run for it on foot. The passenger manage to evade capture, officers said, but the drive was apprehended.
It was not immediately clear if the driver and/or passenger had outstanding warrants or if they have any connection to area street gangs. Their identities have not been made public. Authorities have not said whether a search of the escape vehicle uncovered any sort of contraband.
