A spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department said investigators are on the lookout for Spanish-speaking swindlers that are working hard to con local residents out of their hard-earned cash.
Officers have said the couple, a man and woman, have taken more than $50,000 from victims in the past several months. The woman is described as being in her mid-30’s and slightly heavyset; the man is described as being slender, and is in his mid-30’s if not older.
The con starts off with the couple claiming they’ve won the lottery, but they’re not eligible to collect the winnings since they’re in the country illegally.
But as long as there is someone who is willing to pay some up front fees, not only will the couple be able to get their prize, they’ll be amply happy to share the loot.
Suffice to say it’s all one big rouse- and if you or someone you know has been contacted by this light-skinned Hispanic pair, it’s best you call the San Diego Police Department right away.
Officers say the criminals will be arrested, booked into the San Diego Central Jail and Las Colinas Detention Facility, and will be held pending bail bonds.
Tipsters, they said, can remain anonymous and may be eligible to receive an award if their information leads to an arrest.
