A shocking video of an officer who was run down by a suspect that hopped in his SDPD patrol SUV and stepped on the gas has been made public.
Sources say the surveillance footage was shown in court proceedings last week. The defendant in this case, William Bogard, is being held at the San Diego Central Jail on $1 million bail bonds.
San Diego Police Department officials say the incident unfolded several months ago after dispatch received a call the someone had broken into a residence and was threatening the the people who lived there.
Officers arrived on scene and at some point, the suspect hopped inside the officer’s running SUV and attempted to run him down with it. A second officer was nearby, according to reports; he pulled out his gun and opened fire.
The suspect was taken to a hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries before he was booked at the San Diego County Jail.
