El Cajon PD, Jail & Booking Process
El Cajon Police Department
100 Civic Center Way
El Cajon, CA 92020
The City of El Cajon is served by the El Cajon Police Department. If someone is arrested by ECPD officers, they will be transported to one of the San Diego County jails, like the San DiegoCentral Jail or Las Colinas Jail.
Women are taken to the Las Colinas Jail and men are taken to the Central Jail. There, they will undergo the booking process. This consists of a background check and warrant search, fingerprinting and photos for mug shots.
Arrestees are searched for drugs and weapons. All personal property, including wallets and cell phones, are collected and held until the inmate is released from jail.
Booking can take several hours to complete, depending on how busy the staff at the jail is at the time someone is brought in. Bail is set after the defendant has finished booking. It is set based on the guidelines set in the county bail schedule.
Bail bonds can be posted to any San Diego County jail 24-hours a day. The paperwork is simple to complete and can be done in person at any convenient location or even by fax or email.
To help with paying for the bail bond fee, which is 10% of the defendant’s bail, we accept all major credit cards. You may also qualify for free financing or no-collateral bail bonds.
